For nearly a century, Blancpain has treated the feminine wrist not only as a canvas for ornament, but as a showcase of the functional value of high watchmaking. This philosophy finds its most distilled expression in the Ladybird collection. As 2026 marks the 70th anniversary of this celebrated line, Blancpain introduces the Nude Moka, a new shade to embrace the technical achievement.

The story of the Ladybird is inseparable from Blancpain’s pioneering first female CEO and owner, Betty Fiechter. Taking the helm in 1933 following the death of the last family owner, Fiechter identified female clients as a vital market for high-order watchmaking. This vision culminated in 1956 with the launch of the Ladybird. Fittingly named for its diminutive stature, it housed the world’s smallest round mechanical movement at the time, the calibre R550. Measuring just 11.85mm in diameter, this technical marvel boasted a 40-hour power reserve and featured a pivot above the escape wheel a mere 0.07mm thick, proving that technical mastery and exquisite aesthetics could coexist beautifully on a woman’s wrist.

The Ladybird’s legacy extends beyond mechanics into the realm of poetry, exemplified by the signature moon phase complication that has graced the collection since the 1980s. Today, the Ladybird Colors collection welcomes the Nude Moka. Inspired by natural materials that grow more beautiful with time such as leather, cashmere, and raw wool, the warm, natural tone sits between beige and black, offering an elegant neutrality that Blancpain describes as “a second skin.”

The Nude Moka is presented in two sparkling executions, each featuring a dial crafted from nacre perlée which is the rarest form of mother-of-pearl. Extracted from the most curved section of cultured shells, each shell yields only one or two dials, ensuring every piece is unique. Reflecting shifting shades of green and pink with light, the dial is enhanced by Roman numerals in a subtle two-tone effect.

The standard model features two interlaced circles composed of 70 diamonds on the dial, with over 2ct of diamonds adorning the bezel, lugs, crown, and buckle. The limited version showcases the art of snow-setting, with 152 diamonds scattered across the centre of the dial, bringing the total weight to over 2.4 carats. Both versions are powered by the automatic calibre 1163L which is a mere 4.58mm thick, encased in a 34.9mm red or white gold case.

Today, the warm, refined elegance of Nude Moka is more than a history of timekeeping. It is a testament to a century-long commitment to watchmaking for ladies.
